About ShiokFarm
Hello and a warm welcome to ShiokFarm!
In 2015, I stood in a supermarket in Singapore holding a single organic pear that cost $6. I was feeding a toddler at the time — and pregnant with twins. I did the maths quickly: three children, three pears… $18. For one snack.
That moment changed everything.
I wasn’t just questioning the price. I was questioning the system.
Why was organic food so expensive?
Why were there so many intermediaries between the farmer and my family?
And why did a region with incredible agricultural neighbours rely so heavily on complex supply chains?
So I created ShiokFarm.

Inspired by the French AMAP model
ShiokFarm is inspired by the French AMAP (Association pour le Maintien d’une Agriculture Paysanne).
The idea is simple and powerful:
A community of families commits to buying directly from farmers.
The farmer knows demand in advance.
Revenue is secured.
Waste is reduced.
Prices become fair.
By removing unnecessary intermediaries (i.e.: importer, wholesaler, distributor, retailer) we go straight from farm to table.
The result?
✔ Certified organic produce
✔ Regionally grown whenever possible
✔ Fair pricing
✔ Less waste
✔ Fresher food
Today, many of our fruit and vegetables are competitively priced, sometimes even lower than conventional supermarket options, simply because we shortened the chain.

Food, the way it was meant to be
For thousands of years, humanity ate what was in season and available locally. It’s only in the last 50 years that food became industrialised and disconnected from its source.
At ShiokFarm, we go back to that logic:
-
We work with certified organic farms we know and trust
-
We plan demand ahead of harvest
-
We avoid air freight whenever possible - everything that comes from Thaialnd and Malaysia comes by truck
-
We reduce food waste across the chain
When farmers know what to grow, an estimated up to 40% of typical supply-chain waste is avoided. Less overproduction. Less spoilage. Less landfill.
And yes, we aim to be as plastic-light as possible, reusing boxes and reducing unnecessary packaging.
A Social Enterprise at Heart
ShiokFarm is a certified B Corp and registered social enterprise. Community impact is not a marketing add-on, it is built into our model.
Since 2015, we have:
-
Donated nearly 4 tonnes of organic fruit and vegetables to Cheshire Home for the Disabled
-
Supported Onesimus, a therapeutic farm project for disadvantaged communities in Singapore
-
Collaborated with small ethical producers across Southeast Asia
- ShiokFarm is carbon neutral: we planted enough mangrove to offset our CO2 emissions since 2015.
Each Christmas, instead of corporate gifts, we choose impact:
-
Roselle jam made with Onesimus Café
-
Kampot pepper from Fair Farms in Kep, Cambodia
-
Organic chocolate crafted by the Wildness Project, training disabled workers
Supporting small producers, social initiatives and sustainable farming is part of our DNA.

More than a fruit box
ShiokFarm is not just a delivery service.
It is a community of families who care about:
-
What they eat
-
Who grows their food
-
The footprint it leaves behind
Whether through our Eco Box subscriptions or Fruit@TheOffice corporate deliveries, our mission remains the same:
Make organic produce accessible.
Make farming sustainable.
Make food shiok again.

Fruit@TheOffice delivery
